Abstract: The aim of this subject is introduction of the whole development of the glass and glass-jewellery production from the Middle Ages until the first half of the nineteenth century. Attention is given to development of glass industry sector, particularly in Czech countries with special focus on the North Bohemia. History and glass jewellery will be both perceived and presented as part of the development history of material culture, as well as a specific socio-cultural phenomenon, the Czech economic and social history with regard to the history of entrepreneurs, regional history and the history of science and technology. Thematic definition: 01) Introduction - commented list of basic sources of information on the subject (ie, sources of literature), the definition of basic topics, which will be dealt in lectures and seminars 02) The beginnings of glass production, the first glasshouse of northern Bohemia, Renaissance Glass enclaves and social status of workers in smelt-houses, the most important glass factories and personalities of northern Bohemia 03) Specifics of glass production in northern Bohemia from the end of the Thirty Years War to the onset of Maria Theresa to the throne, the transformation of the relationship of workers in smelting-houses and nobility, the most important glass works and personalities of North Bohemia 04) Glass of northern Bohemia from the onset of Maria Theresa to the throne after the Napoleonic Wars, most important glass-houses and personalities of northern Bohemia 05) The Birth of glass jewellery 06) Sheet glass, mirror glass and chandeliers, and their development from the beginning to the end of the 18th century,important firms and personalities 07) The beginnings of trade with glass and costume jewellery, "Golden Age "of trade in the 18th century, principles of business - from door-to-door business to business Companies, major firms and personalities
