Course content
Annotation: After the basic definition of history as a scientigic object and its place within the social science follows the familiarization with the structure of historic science, including organization of historic workplaces and publication base (scientific magazines, auxiliary historic literature). Great attention will be devoted to all historic sources. Another part deals with the methods of historian work, an emphasis is given to the newly constituted fields and themes. Seminaries will be focused on the knowledge of historic sources and foundations of work with them. Thematic definition: 01) Modern concept of history; history as science and history as construct of past 02) Methodology of science and methodology of historic science - methods and technique of historian work 03) Basic trends of historic science in past and present - tradition of positivism and neopositivism, tradition of economic and social history, concept of postmodern history, linguistic turn, microhistory, oral history, history of mentalities, new political history, new military history 04) History and interdisciplinarity 05) Historic facts and sources - classification of sources 06) Heuristics I - sources, libraries, archives 07) Heuristics II - criticism of sources and literature, magazines, conspects, excerpts 08) Historian and text I - setting of themes, analysis, interpretation, synthesis, message of texts, historian texts (annotation, abstract, reviews, reports, bacground research, articles, studies, monographs, popularization texts) 09) Historian and text II - formal adaptation of texts (formal arrangement of bachelor and M.A. thesis, footnotes, introduction, conclusion, text, coherrence and division of text - paragraphs, stylistic arrangement, spelling, additional material etc.) 10) Principles of edited technique and transcription; how create the book, publishing houses, editorship of newspapers, Copyright act, corrector marks, newspaper articles 11) Rhetoric - formal and content side of speech, rhetoric, conference contribution, lecture for students etc. 12) Historic workplaces in the Czech Republic, partner foreign workplaces, study in foreign, possibilities of employment in the field, scientific growth - M.A. cycle, PhDr., Ph.D. 13) Discussion with students 14) Summary of course
