Course content
Lectures: 1. Computer classification, base structure of computer system 2. Compatibility (technical, SW, data, service) 3. Information in computer 4. Modules of a computer 5. Computer memories, internal, external 6. Processors, main boards, chip-sets 7. Input and output system, interfaces 8. I/O devices 9. Mainframes and supercomputing 10. PC and it's structure 11. Workstation and specialized computers 12. Communication tools 13. Capability of technical tools 14. Reliability of technical tools

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Written assignment presentation and defence

Learning outcomes
This module gives students base as well as advanced information about 'state of art' in information and communication technologies used in information systems of businesses and companies. Students will learn their classification, characteristics and trends of their development. They will be able to compare and classify technical tools and select them on the base of given criteria.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme. They get knowledge about modern ICT, their principles and exploitation by design and application of information systems.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Written exam, Systematické pozorování studenta, Oral presentation of self-study

Presentation of selected topic as a part of lectures, passing the test of the theory (min. 75%) and passing the oral part of the exam.
