Languages have always been influenced by the media. The introduction of modern press in the fifteenth century marked an epochal transformation. From the 1990s to the present, we have seen a fundamental change in the field of communication. The Internet, and the associated new forms of communication, are increasingly influencing the way we interact with each other. The main part of the seminar consists of "new media" and related questions: What forms of communication have developed over the last fifteen years? How do they differ from traditional forms of communication? What is the relationship between written and spoken language and how do these two modalities interact? How do people in modern society communicate with each other in the context of "social media"?
