Course content


Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 18 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 14 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course content follows up on the course Practical Language NJ1. The aim of the course is to revise and deepen the grammar knowledge of students. Selected topics deal mainly with the issues of gender of nouns and word order in main and subordinate clauses. The course is completed by a comprehensive exam which tests the content of Practical Language NJ1, NJ2, NJ3 and NJ4.

Combined examination

Conditions for granting credit before the examination: - passing 2 out of 3 tests, each at 70% - active participation in the seminars, i.e. completion of the assignments, homework Comprehensive exam and its parts: A prerequisite for passing the exam is obtaining credit in practical language exercises 1 - 4. The comprehensive exam covers the following subjects: PN1E, PN2E, PN3E, PN4E. It consists of a written and an oral part. The student is admitted to the oral part only after successful completion of the written part. a) Written part of the examination The written examination focuses on the grammar plan of the German language. The grammatical part of the examination is a test which, in the form of transformation, completion and translation exercises, tests knowledge of the grammatical categories of the verb (tense, gender, manner) in particular, see syllabuses PN1E, PN4E. (b) Oral part of the examination The oral part of the exam consists of a discussion of the selected text. Assessment will be made on adequate interpretation of the content of the text, the ability to explain key words, and the formulation of one's own opinion on the text. Understanding of the content of the text will be verified by questions on the text to which the student will be able to respond. Emphasis will be placed on oral fluency and pronunciation that respects basic pronunciation rules.
