Course content
In this course, the basic linguistic knowledge that the students have acquired in previous years of study will be deepened and expanded. In addition to the basic disciplines of syntax, lexicology, phonetics, and morphology, the students are to gain an overview of scientific methods and areas of Germanic linguistics in selected chapters on the subject. The course is designed as a seminar, which involves active contributions from the participants. Selected topics are worked on independently by the students and presented in the plenum. Then, questions and problems are discussed and worked on together.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
Selected chapters of German linguistics. Recapitulation of coursework to date, and advanced studies in contemporary linguistics with emphasis on modern interdisciplines (pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics) and their methodologies.
Language competence development in accordance with the curriculum of the accredited field.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Student's linguistic performance analysis

Active participation in seminars, successful completion of assignments, 75% presence in seminars. Other requirements may vary.
