Course content
1. Concepts of curriculum, curricular reform and curricular documents, socio-historical conditions, current legal framework of curricular reform. Learning objectives for the 21st century by J. Delors. A personality approach to education as a starting point for curriculum reform in pre-school education. 2. The Framework Educational Program for Preschool Education - content, structure, application in practice. Relation of the framework objectives and expected outputs. Achievement of expected outcomes - key competencies - general objectives of education. Educational areas for pre-school education. 3. Pre-school education conditions - factual, psychosocial, organizational, life. The social climate of the kindergarten and the possibilities of its influence and measurement. Possibility of parental participation in nursery school. Joint education. A child with special educational needs and a child extremely talented at kindergarten. Individual approach, concept of inclusion and integration for child development. Plan of pedagogical support, support measures, individual educational plan. 4. Methods and forms of pre-school education. Developmental specifics of pre-school age and their influence on the educational activities realized in nursery school. Methods and forms of assessment of children in kindergarten. Methods and forms of development of key competences of children in preschool education. 5. Principles of didactic transformation of individual levels of curriculum: Framework Educational Program - profile of nursery school and its school educational program - class education program - thematic units - weekly plan of activities. Methodological issues of the creation of a school educational program. Self-evaluation of kindergarten, its functions and forms. 6. Innovative approaches and pre-school education and training programs. Programs Start Together, Healthy School. Alternative educational concepts and their use in the school educational programs. Waldorf education. Montessori education. 7. Methodological issues of school curriculum development and weekly plans. Study of examples of good practice - school educational programs of selected kindergartens, their realization and outputs.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Home preparation for classes - 14 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 12 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide orientation in curricular documents binding on pre-school education in the Czech Republic. Students learn to didactically transform individual levels of curriculum into the application level.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Didactic application of educational program 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of pedagogy and psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Practical demonstration of acquired skills, Written assignment

Active participation in lectures. Study and analysis of scholar texts. Elaboration of own design of the educational program for the selected kindergarten at the level of the school and class education program and weekly plans.
