Course content
1. Curriculum, content of education, problems of organization and selection, content modernization, curricular reform, textbooks. 2. Organizational forms of teaching, historical context and current possibilities. Class teaching, cooperative forms, possibilities of individualization and differentiation of teaching, integration of pupils, inclusion, problem teaching, teaching in projects. 3. Alternatives in education, alternative schools, reform movements and innovation; potential and risks, opportunities and implications for teaching. 4. Teaching methods and their potential in school teaching, possibilities of using in the reality of contemporary school, modern didactic techniques, risks and potential. 5. Educational and didactic diagnostics. Functions of control, testing and evaluation in school practice. Problems associated with pupil assessment. Educometry, pupil testing. National and international measurement of educational outcomes. 6. Teacher and his role in the teaching process, historical and social changes. Teacher's concept of teaching, designing and evaluating teaching, self-reflection, cooperation in school. Teaching profession, conditions of work, teacher education, ethics of teaching.

Learning outcomes
The course builds on General didactics 1 (education theory) and accentuates especially the theory of school education.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of General didactics 2 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral theses 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process 5. to be motivated for continuous learning in the field
Prerequisites
The student has knowledge of general didactics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis

Active participation in seminars, completion of tasks, written test, oral exam. Elaboration of semestral paper, work with journal literature.
