Course content
1. Subject of traffic education, situation in traffic education in the Czech Republic, current trends in EU countries, position of traffic education in preschool education, relation to psychological disciplines, traffic psychology. 2. Basic concepts and objectives of child traffic education. Road traffic rules, safe behavior in vehicles (car seats, safety belts). Adoption of rules for preschool children. 3. Traffic psychology: human system - means of transport - transport environment. Traffic accidents - the causes of traffic accidents, the development of accidents. Children as participants and victims of traffic accidents. Organization of BESIP, share of education and training in traffic education and prevention of traffic accidents. 4. Traffic education of pre-school children, habits, relationships with the environment and people, caution, discipline. Features that influence the response of children in selected traffic situations, training for their safe stay outdoors, respectively in road traffic. 5. Training of road traffic rules for children-cyclists. 6. Excursion - children's playground, practical demonstrations of traffic education on the playground, use of reflective materials. 7. Traffic instruction as a game, overview of publications for children, parents, teachers.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Demonstration
  • Class attendance - 14 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
The course deals with basic problems of traffic education of children with emphasis on knowledge from traffic psychology and current state of traffic education in our country. The course is structured to teach traffic education in pre-school age children. The aim is to gain knowledge and experience in this field to create the right habits for children. It is also about developing features that influence children's reactions in certain traffic situations, perceived dangers, and training that is beneficial for their safe stay outdoors, on road traffic, on a train journey, and on a journey with their parents in a car.
After completion of the course student will be: 1. able to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Traffic education 2. able to reflect the topic critically 3. able to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course to plan and realize education
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of pedagogy and psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral presentation of self-study, Written assignment

Active participation of students in the lectures, elaboration and presentation of given practical task. Group feedback.
