Course content
1. Pre-school children education ? specifics of pre-school education. Methods and forms of pre-school education. 2. Curricular reform of pre-school education. Social and historic conditions of the reform. Personality concept of education as a basis of curricular reform in pre-school education. Terminology: curriculum, curricular reform, curricular documents, legislation framework of the curricular reform. 3. Educational Programme for Pre-School Education and changes in objectives and contents of education in curricular reform. Delores?s objectives for 21st century and their relation to key competencies for pre-school education. Framework objectives and expected outcomes, relation of general and specific objections, educational areas for pre-school education. 4. Educational Programme for Pre-School Education and conditions of pre-school education ? material, psychosocial, organizational and dietary. Social climate of a kindergarten and the possibilities of its influencing and measurement. The possibility of parent participation on kindergarten functioning. 5. Educational Programme for Pre-School Education and a child with special educational needs and exceptionally talented child in kindergarten ? a socially handicapped child, medically disadvantaged child, health handicapped child. Individual approach, the significance of inclusion and integration for the child development. 6. Educational Programme for Pre-School Education and auto-evaluation of kindergarten. Functions of auto-evaluation and its forms. Diagnostics and evaluation of pre-school children in kindergarten ? functions and methods. 7. Changes in the conception of pre-school teacher profession. Teacher qualification and further pre-school teacher education. Ethics of teacher profession, teaching as a calling, social prestige of teacher profession. Legal aspects of teacher profession.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

  • Home preparation for classes - 50 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course deals with didactic aspects of work of pre-school teacher.
After completion of the subject student will be able 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Didactic application of educational programme 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral theses 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process 5. to be motivated for continuous learning in the field
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of general and pre-school pedagogy and general and developmental psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined examination, Essay, Student's performance analysis, Presentation of acquired experience via portfolio
