Course content
1. History and definition of Environmental Education and Enlightenment (EEE). 2. EEE in the Czech Republic. Centres of ecological education and their programmes for kindergartens. 3. Strategy of developing the relationship to nature. 4. Cornell's model of fluent learning and its application in EEE programmes. 5. Forest kindergartens. Eco-school programme for kindergartens. 6. Principles for the creation of EEE programmes.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Preparation for credit - 14 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 18 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to the history and objectives of environmental education. In details, it focuses on the issues of developing environmental sensitivity with small children. Students will get to know the offer of programmes of the centres of ecological education within the MRKVIČKA network, they will try Cornell's model of fluent learning and they will design their own programme of environmental education.
After completion of the subject student will be able 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Environmental education 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral theses 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process 5. to be motivated for continuous learning in the field
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of pedagogy and psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis, Oral presentation of self-study, Written assignment

Study objectives: 1. active participation on the lecture 2. participants will perform all given tasks 3. reading of relevant academic texts 4. writing a semestral academic paper 5. successful accomplishment of institutional objectives of the course - attainment above the minimum requirements for the award of credit
