Course content
1. Pre-school children's communication and the relationship to the cognitive, social, emotional development of children. The awareness of self, development of speech. Egocentrism, (J. Piaget's theory of cognitive development) and its reflection in speech and perception of the world. The fantasy thinking of a pre-school child and its reflection in communication. 2. Principles of communication with children of pre-school-age in a group. The principles of communication with a child in an individual dialogue. Use of expressive means at communication with pre-school children. 3. Principles of communication with children from a different social-cultural environment. Basic principles of effective communication with children with a different mother language without knowledge of Czech language. 4. Specifics of communication with children with special educational needs ? communication with children with mental retardation, with an autistic disorder, with ADHD, with a sensual handicap. Issues of elective mutism. Communication with anxious children. 5. Significance of non-verbal communication at a pre-chool child. Somatization as a form of communication of a child with mental difficulties. 6. Basic principals of non-conflict communication with the child family at solving a problem. Basic principals of clinic interview with the family of the child ? definition of the objective of the meeting, help while looking for solution, progress measurement, evaluation. Assertive communication. 7. Training of topical interview with a pre-school child with correction and selfreflection.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
The course is drawn in a way so that the student: a) would know basic qualities of interpersonal communication of preschool children with respect to their cognitive, emotional and social level of development, b) could adjust the communication with a child, c) would master basic rules of communication with children with a different mother languages without a good knowledge of Czech language (immigrants, ethnic minorities), with parents with a different mother language, d) would be able to communicate assertively with the child's family, would understand the importance of regular communication with the child's family, e) would master basic principals of the consulting dialogue with a pre-school child, with the child's family.
After completion of the subject student will be able 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Communication in pre-school education 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral theses 4. to apply gained knowledge in a Bachelor theses 5. to be motivated for continuous learning in the field
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis, Written assignment

80% presence in class, seminary work ? audio-record, transcription and analysis of a thematic dialogue with a pre-school child.
