Course content
1. The philosophy of Montessori's pedagogical system. 2. The concept of child in Montessori's pedagogy. 3. Educational practice in Montessori's pedagogy. 4. The meaning of didactic material in Montessori educational system. 5. Montessori's cosmic education. 6. Practice of selected educational institutions operating under principles of Montessori's pedagogy.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Observation
  • Preparation for credit - 14 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 14 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 32 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to issues of Maria Montessori's pedagogical system as an example of an alternative educational concept that can be used widely for kindergarten teachers. The subject introduces students not only to theoretical resources and principles of Montessori pedagogy but also with the current form of pedagogical Montessori practice based on cooperation with Montessori Kindergarten in Jablonec nad Nisou and Montessori Basic School in Jablonec nad Nisou.
After completion of the subject student will be able 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Montessori pedagogy 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral theses 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process 5. to be motivated for continuous learning in the field
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of general pedagogy and history of education.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis, Written assignment

Study objectives: 1. active participation on the lecture 2. participants will perform all given tasks 3. reading of relevant academic texts 4. writing a semestral academic paper 5. successful accomplishment of institutional objectives of the course - attainment above the minimum requirements for the award of credit
