Course content
1. Reform pedagogical movement - historical overview and pedagogical bases. New school and new education - new school movements. Alternative education and alternative educational systems. 2. The educational system of M. Montessori - philosophy of the educational system of M. Montessori. 3. The concept of child in educational system of M. Montessori. 4. Pedagogical principles of the M. Montessori system and their use in teaching. 5. Educational practice of educational system of M. Montessori. 6. Importance of didactic material in Montessori education. Practice of selected educational institutions working according to the principles of educational system of M. Montessori - example of Montessori primary school in Tanvald - video demonstration, video analysis.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Observation

Learning outcomes
Students will learn the basic principles of Montessori pedagogy, which will be able to follow in practice, on the basis of which they will create a proposal of a short-term educational program.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Montessori pedagogy 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process
Prerequisites
The student has basic knowledge of pedagogy and didactics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written assignment

Regular pedagogical observations in schools with elements of alternative pedagogical concepts - Montessori pedagogy. Reflection and critical analysis of observations. Presentation of the observations. Creation of a proposal of a short-term educational program and work activities with regard to alternative pedagogical concepts of Montessori pedagogy.
