Course content
Definition of special educational needs of children in preschool education - physical handicap, sensory disability, mental disability, speech defects, autism spectrum disorders, multiple disabilities, long-term illnes, child from a different socio-cultural environment, child from a low socio-economic environment , child undergoing institutional care, child at risk of socially pathological phenomena in its surroundings. Special educational needs of the child as a significant factor influencing the development of a child in pre-school education. Collaboration of kindergarten with health, social and school counseling facilities in the care of a child with special educational needs - pediatr, child psychiatrist, pediatric neurologist, social worker, etoped, psychologist, special pedagogue, speech therapist etc. Providing care to children neglected, abused and abused - social and legal protection of children, Police, etc. Support for the comprehensive development of children with special educational needs at kindergarten - support measures, inclusion, pedagogical support plan, individual educational plan, teacher assistant, personal assistant. Collaboration of the kindergarten with the family of a child with special educational needs in its complex development - forms and methods of cooperation, engagement of the family and child in the educational process in preschool education, psychological support for adult members of the family caring for the handicapped child. System of school counseling services in the Czech Republic - pedagogical-psychological counseling center, special pedagogical center, center of educational care, school counseling center. System of special education in preschool education in the Czech Republic - mainstream education, special kindergartens, kindergartens in health facilities, differences of the framework educational programs and methods of care for children with special educational needs in these facilities.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Demonstration of student skills

  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 14 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to education of children with special educational needs in kindergarten.
After completing the course the student will be able: to understand the content of the course to critically evaluate and analyze topics of the course to practically demonstrate the gained knowledge in the semester paper to use the acquired knowledge and skills in the educational process
Prerequisites
Knowledge of pedagogy, psychology, pedagogical-psychological diagnostics and didactics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined examination, Oral presentation of self-study

Active participation on the lecture. Participants will perform all given tasks. Reading of relevant academic texts.
