Course content
1. Health and illness, determinants of mental and physical health. 2. Health promotion in kindergartens, education for health. 3. Threats to pre-school children's health caused by unsuitable lifestyle. 4. Resilience and stress management at pre-school children in kindergartens. 5. Basic needs of pre-school children, the meaning of fulfilling needs, consequences of deprivation. 6. The meaning of nutrition and physical activities. 7. Communication with parents. 8. Kindergarten teachers' mental hygiene. 9. Relaxation. 10. Activities suitable for pre-school children focused on acquiring healthy lifestyle.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming)
  • Class attendance - 14 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 14 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 32 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to basic terms of education for health and mental hygiene. In bigger details, it deals with specific issues of education for health with pre-school children. It is mainly about leading pre-school children to be interested in their own health, strengthening their dignity, self-confidence, independence and responsibility. The course is drawn in accordance with the latest research that define pedagogical, diagnostic, interventional, social and personality-cultivating competencies for teachers in the field of promoting health and healthy lifestyle.
After completion of the subject student will be able 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Education for health 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral theses 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process 5. to be motivated for continuous learning in the field
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of pedagogy and psychology.

Student's performance analysis, Written assignment

Study objectives: 1. active participation on the lecture 2. participants will perform all given tasks 3. reading of relevant academic texts 4. writing a semestral academic paper 5. successful accomplishment of institutional objectives of the course - attainment above the minimum requirements for the award of credit
