Course content
Characteristics and historical roots of organizations, schools and movements that use activities and outdoor activities to prepare leisure, recreational and educational programs. Terminology and theoretical concepts related to the field of outdoor pedagogy. Basic sources of information on outdoor pedagogy (journals, publications, websites, databases). Characteristics of the area of activities in nature and typology of outdoor programs according to their objectives. The work of Kurt Hahn, his pedagogical principles and the schools and organizations he founded. The concept of "Erlebnistherapy". Outward Bound - objectives and characteristics of the method, diversified focus of programs, including the City Bound, research results evaluating the impact of the courses on the participants. The context of outdoor education, different views of the concept, outputs to leisure time and schools, the proportion of environmental education, approaches leading to personality development of participants. Programming procedures, manager profile, input to nature, legal and safety framework for practical actions, evaluation. Features of modern society, lifestyle, fashion trends, and challenges faced by leisure time educators, social significance of activities, and stay in the wild. The context of so-called experiential education, Erlebnispädagogik, experiential learning, outdoor management training, outdoor recreation. Health, lifestyle, values, wellness, recreation and benefits of activities in nature on humans.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Written assignment presentation and defence, Motoric and practical working skills training, Active metods (simulation, situational contingency methods, drama,acting, namagerial acting ), Demonstration of student skills
  • Class attendance - 112 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 8 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with historical, theoretical and pedagogical contexts of application of activities in nature in the practice of leisure time teachers.
Student will be able: to orientate in basic literature from the field of outdoor pedagogy to understand the context between different approaches to the pedagogical use of a wide range of activities in nature to form methodical practices for conducting practical lessons in the natural environment to understand the importance of feedback control for the positive influence of leisure time program participants
Basic knowledge of general pedagogy, engagement in some of the organizations preparing programs for different groups of children and youth, basic skills in selected sports in nature.

Assessment methods and criteria
Practical demonstration of acquired skills, Oral presentation of self-study, Written assignment, Test

Presentation of semestral paper. Successful passing of written test.
