Course content
|
1. Reform pedagogical movement - historical overview and pedagogical starting point. New school and new education - new school movement. Alternative educational systems. 2. Montessori pedagogical system - philosophy of the M. Montessori educational system. 3. The concept of a child in M. Montessori education. 4. Pedagogical principles of M. Montessori system and its use for primary school teachers. 5. Educational practice of M. Montessori educational system. 6. The importance of didactic material in the Montesassori school. Cosmic education at M. Montessori. Practice of selected educational institutions working according to the principles of M. Montessori educational system - example of the Montessori kindergarten and elementary school in Jablonec nad Nisou and the elementary school in Tanvald - video presentation, video analysis.

Learning outcomes
|
The course deals with pedagogical system of Maria Motessori.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Theory and practice of M. Montessori system 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process

Prerequisites
|
Student has basic knowledge of primary education and history of education.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral presentation of self-study, Written assignment
Regular pedagogical observations in schools with elements of alternative pedagogical concepts - Montessori pedagogy, reflection and critical analysis of hospitations, presentation of reflection of hospitations, creation of a proposal for a short-term educational program and work activities with regard to alternative pedagogical concepts - Montessori pedagogy.
