Course content
1. Norms and normality of personality. Main causes of pathological changes: internal and external. Mental health and disorder. Characters of mature healthy personality. Basic terminology in psychopathology, disorders of individual functions and concepts associated with them. 2. Defense mechanisms of Ego, their classification in terms of the development of healthy personality, defense mechanisms occurring at school (aggression towards the environment, escapes, truancy, cheating, suicide, etc.). Appropriate strategies for coping with stress, resilience. 3. Psychological deprivation and subdeprivation in childhood. Causes, symptoms, course, consequences and remedy. Disorders related to an inappropriate family environment, CAN syndrome (only a brief definition will be taken in more detail in another course). 4. Neuroses and neuroticism. External and internal factors of neuroticism. Influence of family and school. Working with a neurotic child. Anxiety and fear. Anxiety and fear in stages of ontogenesis. Anxiety management, principles for school and family work, separation anxiety disorder, phobic anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder. Anger and its coping. Causes and links to the family and school environment. Affective disorders in childhood and adolescence: bipolar disorder, depression and mood disorders, cyclothymia, dysthymia. 5. Disharmonic development of personality and personality disorder in childhood. Briefly, psychosexual developmental disorders, gender identity disorder, and sexual arousal, origin and context. 6. Psychiatric disorders related to somatic disability, their causes and consequences (tics, sleep disorders, enuresis and enkopresis, headaches, abdominal pain, vomiting, fatigue and anorexia, etc.), eating disorders and associated disorders mental anorexia, bulimia, etc.), causes in the family environment. 7. Addictive risks in children and adolescents, psychosocial connections, therapy and prevention - only in a framework. Mental retardation and dementia in childhood, causes, manifestations in education. Severe psychotic illnesses beginning in childhood and adolescence. Pervasive developmental disorders - autism spectrum disorders, major manifestations and approaches. Access to a child with this disorder.

Learning outcomes
The course deals with variability and pathology in children's psychological development.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Psychopathology of children 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of general and developmental psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written assignment

Participation in seminars, presentation of the seminar paper: case study concerning the child with mental disorder or deviation and work with him / her in the school environment.
