Course content
1. Introduction to the course. Relation of the course to social psychology. 2. Basic themes of social psychology and their application to children's group - aggression, group conformation, social facilitation, social impulse. The basic features of a small social group. 3. Group dynamics in children's class. Specifics of a small social group of children in the pre-school development period. 4. Influence of group dynamics in children's group through controlled group games - basic principles, creation of group program (start, rules, warm-up activity, core activity, reflection, conclusion). 5. Basic typology of group games, suitable for pre-school age children (warm-up, core, relaxation). Possibilities of reflecting games in pre-school children. Game typology by goal (development of empathy and prosocial behavior, class collaboration, aggression, communication). 6. Self-experience - warm-up activities. 7. Self-experience - warm-up activity, core activity (communication, cooperation, empathy, aggression), reflection (training). 8. Implementation of own group games, group training. 9. Summary, reflection of acquired skills for working with relationships in the children's group.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 14 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 12 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course is organized for students to be able to understand the context of basic social-psychological phenomena in a group; to know basic terminology and understand fundamental processes and phenomena of social psychology applied on child group in pre-school education and on the relationship teacher-child group (individual social behaviour, interpersonal social behaviour, group social behaviour); to be able to influence the child group dynamics and intervene appropriately to support desirable behavior - prosocial group behaviour, group communication, cooperation); to be able to reflect their teacher role and work with the child group in term of social psychology (importance of attitudes, social perception, attribution in teacher's work).
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Working with relationships in children's group 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of general and developmental psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Practical demonstration of acquired skills, Interview, Oral presentation of self-study, Written assignment

Attendance at seminars is at least 80%. Project elaboration - proposal and possibility of realization of two group games, record from realization including reflection and self-reflection of events on the group. Verbal interview.
