Course content
1. Objectives and tasks of sexual education, familiarization with current research. Discussion on current views on issues and controversial issues in relationships and sexuality. 2. Analysis of selected literature on the subject. 3. The factors determining the formation of sexual behavior. 4. The importance of sexuality in human life, important influences (family and institutions), possibilities of influencing attitudes towards partnership and sexuality in school and out-of-school institutions. 5. Sexual education in preschool children - suitable topics and methods of their presentation to pre-school children. Linking the themes with the educational areas of the Framework Educational Program for Preschool Education. 6. Sexual education in school age and adolescence (our body and its relation to it, changes in adolescence and perception of sexuality in this period, the development of sexual and partner relationships, development of intimacy in the relationship, preparation for responsible parenthood, protection against unwanted conception and sexual communicable diseases, building healthy family relationships, protection against sexual abuse and sexual aggression). 7. Methods of sexual education in relation to developmental, individual and family specifics of individual children and pupils.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Class attendance - 14 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 14 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 12 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course extends the awareness of students about the sexual behavior of a person and about the possibilities of influencing it through sexual education in families, pre-school and out-of-school institutions. Students will become acquainted with the current state of exploration and realization of sexual education, they will focus on professional literature. Part of the subject is the acquisition of selected activation methods suitable for sexual education. Students prepare and implement activities suitable for sexual education in the family, pre-school and school.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Sexual education 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of general and developmental psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written assignment

Active participation in exercises. Students will study academic literature, design and implement their own pedagogical activities for sexual education.
