Course content
1. School as an institution, school as an organization, basic data, historical insight, specifics. 2. Current changes of school, perspectives of school institutions, development scenarios, foreign inspiration. 3. Primary school as an institution of compulsory education, alternatives. 4. Specifics of primary school, structure, school management, leadership. 5. People in school and their leadership, possibilities of cooperation. 6. School culture, basic attributes of school culture, research findings, school transformation potential. 7. Social climate of the school, research possibilities and research findings, climate change potential.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
The course offers students the themes of school theory and a view of contemporary school.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Contemporary school and its culture 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process
Prerequisites
The student has basic knowledge of pedagogy and didactics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written assignment, Test

Active participation in seminars, completion of tasks, seminar paper, written test.
