Course content
|
1. Personality and socialization. The concept of primary and secondary socialization. Attachment, regulation of emotions and mentalization (J. Bowlby, A. Schore, P. Fonga). New knowledge of neuroscience. Disruption of the socialization process (deprivation, deviations, traumas). Social learning (A. Bandura). 2. Individual identity from the point of view of social psychology. Turn to language in the social sciences, narrative identity. 3. Norms and normality - different views. Concept of healthy personality. Personality disorders (narcissistic and borderline). 4. Social cognition - perception, attribution, attitudes, values. Cognitive dissonance. Prejudices. 5. Social intelligence, emotional intelligence, social competence. 6. Social role, status, social position. 7. Group dynamics - motivation, interaction, structure, stage of group development, atmosphere in the group (K. Lewin). 8. Interpersonal relationships. Affiliation, attractiveness, love, aggression, prosocial behavior. 9. Family, its definition and function. The transformation of the family in today's society. 10. Influence of the school on the socialization of the child and the personality maturation of the teenager. School climate and its diagnosis. Formal and informal peer groups. 11. Influence of media on the social development of children and youth.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the fundamental socio-psychological theories, concepts and phenomena that social psychology examines. The individual topics of are illustrated by examples of practice so that the student can use them in his profession.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Social psychology and personality psychology 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in social worker practice

Prerequisites
|
Student has basic knowledge of general and developmental psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam, Oral presentation of self-study, Written assignment
Critical analysis of the scholarly text. Preparation and presentation of a practical seminar paper - description and interpretation of a psychologically relevant story from social worker practice. Written exam.
