Course content
1. The school system in the Czech Republic 2. School systems of neighboring countries, comparison with the Czech Republic 3. System of special schools in the Czech Republic, education of disabled children 4. Inclusion in the Czech educational system, pupils with special educational needs 5. Extremely gifted and talented pupils and their care, eight-year grammar schools 6. Elementary schools with alternative education programs 7. Private schools in the Czech school system 8. Compulsory pre-school year in kindergarten, preparatory classes, postponement of school attendance

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the school field and to acquire elementary skills in the field of observation, evaluation, analysis and reflection of selected psychodidaktic phenomena. The course is oriented to the school system, especially to the system of elementary education, including special schools, practical methodological preparation and development of personality professional prerequisites for students. Students will take part in discussions with pedagogical staff in specific educational institutions and in direct educational activities within the hospitations.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of the course 2. to reflect the topics of the course critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of pedagogy and psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Presentation of acquired experience via portfolio, Written assignment

Active participation in the course, continuous fulfillment of assigned tasks, preparation of the portfolio.
