Course content
The course Biology of child acquaints students with position of human in the system of organism, human phylogenesis, base of anatomy and human physiology, individual children´s and young people development, age specifics in the development, hygiene of school work, scopes and resources of illness prevence and development defekt, action atmosphere on the health and the basics of first aid. Thematic headings - lectures: 1. The individual as a biological system. The human and health - biological, mental. First Aid Guidelines. 2. Biological and psychological balance and human health. Goals, methods and means of health education. 3. Structure of the system. Basic structure of the organism. 4. Energy flow and matter cycle in the biological system. 5. Respiratory system, vocal instrument, air pollution, breathing hygiene, smoking, behavior in smog situations. 6. Excretory system. Water balance of the organism. First aid for poisoning. 7. Vascular system. Integrating vascular system functions. Prevention of cardiovascular diseases. 8. Management of biological systems. First aid in the failure of control mechanisms (shock states, allergies). 9. Nervous system. Reflection arch, higher functions of the nervous system, basics of mental hygiene. 10. Senses. Sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch. Lighting, temperature, noise load. 11. Endocrine system. Construction and function of individual glands with internal secretion. 12. Phylogenetic and ontogenetic human development. Reproduction system. Fundamentals of genetics. Mutagens in the environment.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Practicum

  • Semestral paper - 18 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The subject acquaints students with the biological system, the basics of anatomy, physiology and first aid. Attention is paid to current issues concerning the environmental impact on health, drug addiction and education about personal responsibility for one's health. Developmental differences in individual stages of ontogenesis are discussed, focusing mainly on preschool and school age children.
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Written assignment

Activity during the course, seminar work and written exam. The course is held in the Czech language and all requirements and support are in the Czech version.
