Course content
Thematic areas: 1. Contribution of Enlightenment to Literature for Children and Youth. 2. Literature for children and youth in the 19th century. 3. The beginnings of storytelling with a child hero. 4. Prose development with girl heroine. 5. The Flowering of Adventurous Literature. 6. The origin of fairy tales as a genre. 7. Author's fairy tale. 8. Blending reality and fantasy in the author's fairy tale. 9. Prose with child hero. 10. Children's team is the hero of storytelling. 11. Author's fairy tale with elements of artificial mythology. 12. Stories inspired by adult literature. 13. Contemporary prose for children and youth. 14. News of translation prose.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Active metods (simulation, situational contingency methods, drama,acting, namagerial acting )
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report in a foreign language) - 22 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The subject of Children's Literature 1 introduces the students to the main parts of the world literature for children and youth, individual works in the historical and social context. Within the subject are presented not only the most important works, but also biographies and authors' bibliography. The most important part is the analysis of samples and the critical reflection of the sample texts.

General orientation in the subject.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis, Practical demonstration of acquired skills, Interview, Test

Participation at seminars, presentation, semiestral work, written test. The course is held in Czech language, the requirements are stated in the Czech version.
