Course content
1 New trends in special education support for people with special needs (historical development, presence, options and perspective). 2 Legislation in pedagogical assistance. Qualification demand and personal qualities of the assistant. 3 Creating the position of the assistant (schools in cooperation with counselling facilities). 4 Defining the role of the pedagogical assistance, principles 5 Efficient cooperation between teacher and assistant as the basis for education pupils with special needs. 6 Pedagogical assistant in the class with a pupil with special needs in terms of visual, hearing, health or learning difficulties. 7 Pedagogical assistant in the class with a pupil with special needs in terms of behavioural, speech, social-cultural difficulties or in terms of extreme talent.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Class attendance - 14 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 16 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 30 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
This course focuses on the topics of present issues of including people with special needs into society. Students learn the role, rights and duties of the pedagogical assistants and the demands for their expert competencies. The goal of the course is to clarify the issues of pedagogical assistance being one of the supportive means in education.

Special education and consecutive knowledge gained through the educational background.

To gain the credit students must join the seminar. Other requirements are specified by lecturer.
