Course content
Seminars: 1) Bachelor thesis as a scientific text sui generis 2) Bachelor thesis, structure, formulation, typography rules 3) Introduction to methodology of research in special education 4) Research aspects: setting the topic, formulating research questions, formulating hypotheses and working with them 5) Research aspects: strategy selection, choice of data collection method, work with respondents 6) Research aspects: evaluation of data obtained, their interpretation and discussion 7) Presentation of the final bachelor thesis

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Written assignment presentation and defence, Group consultation
  • Class attendance - 14 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
Students will be acquainted with formal, content and organizational requirements for bachelor thesis. Students are acquainted with the selection and specification of the appropriate topic of the bachelor thesis, possibilities of formulation of the aim of the bachelor thesis and exploratory questions. Attention is paid to the choice of the character of the bachelor thesis, the research strategy, the definition of the object and subject of the research, the subject of interest. Students learn what hypotheses are, and what the rules for their formulation are, including the warning of the most common mistakes in formulating hypotheses. The students are discussed about the suitability of individual research methods for exploring specific social phenomena. Students are presented with the possibilities and recommendations of data collection and their evaluation. Students are further informed about adequate ways to interpret the findings. Teaching also affects work with professional information resources.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis

Active participation in lessons. Creation of a bachelor thesis training project, presentation of the project in a joint discussion with other students and teacher. Continuous contribution to the discussion forum on topics specified by the teacher.
