Course content
|
Lectures: 1. The content of lessons, attestation, seminar paper. Occupation therapy - the position in the system of medical science, institutions of occupation therapy - cooperation, basic terminology. 2. Student ´s presentations and following reflective discussion: models and approaches in occupation therapy and occupation therapy diagnostics. Case reports. 3. Excursion in the institution of occupation therapy and occupation therapy diagnostics. 4. Reflection of the excursion. Student ´s presentations and following reflective discussion: anthropometrics, biomechanics, labour psychology etc. 5. Student ´s presentations and following reflective discussion: labour rehabilitation, supported employment in the context of special education and social services. 6. Student ´s presentations and following reflective discussion: compensation aids for personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, free time, education etc. 7. Student ´s presentations and following reflective discussion: occupation therapy and free time - the use of PC to support people with special needs. Presentation of the seminar paper. Seminars: 1. Discussion - comprehensive rehabilitation and the position of occupation therapy in the scientific discourse. Cooperation between comprehensive rehabilitation and social policy. 2. Practical training - investigating methods. Case work. Preparation for the internship. 3. The internship on the work place where occupation therapy is used. 4. Reflecting the internship. Discussion. Preparation for the internship. 5. The internship in the institution where the occupation therapy is offered. 6. Reflecting the internship. Discussion. Practical training with compensation aids. 7. Presenting seminar thesis - compensation aid or occupation therapy activity for a person with health difficulties or disorders.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal of the discipline is to give students the information about the importance of occupation therapy and team cooperation when working with people with disabilities. The comprehensive rehabilitation will be emphasized in terms of the cooperation between the nurses, social workers, and other professionals. Students will learn the compendium of the occupation therapy techniques, compensation aids and diagnostics in occupation therapy.
