Course content
Lectures: 1. Social innovations - basic terminology, the meaning of realizing and studying social innovations. New solutions of long term social problems. Unused opportunities. 2. Social innovations results - qualitative change of the social agents lives, lives of communities, society. Social innovations in the non-profit sector. Innovations for saving public money. 3. Impact - the main category of social innovations. Impact as a measurable quantity of social interventions. Stakeholders and finance in social innovations. 4. International inspirations. Traditional support of social innovations in Great Britain, the role of innovations in the process of social integration. 5. Evaluation - form of action research in social work. Applied social work research as basis for evaluation. 6. The ways of evaluation, team and team communication. Instant effect of evaluation on the quality of social intervention. Practical demands of social work. 7. Evaluation in social services as a mean of quality management and supportive mean for the competitiveness of social service in the region. Seminars: 1. Typical system social problems and environmental issues as task for social innovations. Practical example - a family with a child with disability - empowerment. 2. The way to replicate social innovations and to maintain it. 3. Stakeholders´ interests. Creating the potential of communities. 4. Reflecting social innovations e.g. in Great Britain. Reviewing last 5 years of innovation. 5. Designing evaluation research. Typical design. The example of evaluating social impact of an innovation. 6. Methods and techniques of gathering the data. Validating the data and application of the data in the process of social intervention. 7. Ways of using evaluation research to measure the impact of social innovation. Examples of evaluation research.

The goal of the discipline is to describe the mutual relationship between the social innovations and social evaluation as a tool of proving the impact of social innovation in the field of social problems.

Social issues and consecutive knowledge gained through the educational background.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis, Presentation of group work

Students work out a design of a social innovation and present it during the exam.
