Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction. Scientific cognition. The summary of research methods. Scientific principles and their categories. 2. Methods of empirical research (observation, experiment, diagnostic methods, tests, questionnaires). Research material and its categorization. Research variables. Types of measurement. Types of quantificative scales. 3. The structure of a scientific theory (theoretical concepts, empirical indicators). System formulation of a research problem. Scientific analysis. The plan of an experiment and its logical structure. Types of experiment. 4. The study of sources. Sources (bibliographic databases, the internet etc.). 5. The introduction to the statistical processing of the research data. Inductive statistics. Pragmatic and statistic significance of research results. 6. Validity, reliability and other characteristics of diagnostic methodology. 7. The introduction to the methods of a qualitative research. Applications in Physical Education and sport. Qualitative analysis. Seminars: The practical application of the topics stated above - according to the topic and aims of a particular student's bachelor thesis.

  • Semestral paper - 50 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Students are introduced to the methods of data collection for research and to the methods of processing and presentation of the research data.
Students will acquire basic professional skills in research methodology.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of basic terms of kinanthropology.

Course credit requirements: Seminar project focused on the bachelor thesis.
