Course content
1. Legal aspects of first aid. General first aid procedure. Emergency call. 2. Sudden circulatory arrest. Practical training of basic emergency resuscitation in adults and children, utilization of AED during resuscitation 3. Shock states. Massive hemorrhage. 4. First aid in heat and cold damage. First aid for burning. First aid in poisoning. 5. First aid for serious accidents. 6. First aid for non-traumatic states of adults. First aid in non-traumatic conditions in childhood. 7. Practical training in the treatment of selected injuries, dressing technique, positioning. 8. First aid kit. Protection of the population in emergencies. 9. Mass occurrence of the wounded.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Demonstration, Motoric and practical working skills training
  • Class attendance - 14 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Objective of the course in terms of learning outcomes and competences The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the principles and techniques of solving the general crisis situation related to the threat to life or human health. Attention is also paid to the issue of protection of the population in the event of emergencies and legal liability in the provision of first aid.
Students acquire professional skills to provide first aid.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis, Test

Active participation in exercises (at least 75 %), mastering theory and basic first aid techniques. Test and solution of a model situation.
