Course content
Thematic areas of the lectures - Health - definition, determinants, assessment of population health. - Physical activity and health, hypokinesia, sedentary lifestyle, health-related fitness. - Physical literacy and its attributes. - Biological basis of the body's reactive and adaptive changes in response to physical activity. - Pathophysiology of physical inactivity. - Health literacy and health promotion. - Nutrition in the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases. - Mental health and stress management. Thematic areas of the course: - Body composition, weight management, fundamentals of obesity studies. - Basal and resting energy expenditure, estimation of daily energy requirements, estimation of total daily energy expenditure. - Current topics in physical activity and health literacy in specialist sources - presentation of student work.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the module is to familiarise students with the fundamentals of physical and health literacy as the basis for lifelong participation in physical activity and health-promoting behaviour. During the semester, students will learn about the biological aspects of physical activity and the pathophysiology of physical inactivity.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis

Active participation in practical sessions, ongoing completion of assignments throughout the semester, and worksheets. A presentation on a chosen topic and the creation of a poster suitable for teaching a selected topic relating to physical and health literacy.
