Course content
Lectures: 1. Sport in the active lifestyle of the population (conception, structure, division, etc.). 2. Sport and its positive or negative impact on health (sport for all vs. elite sport). 3. Sport and quality of life, the impact of sport on school grades and work performance. 4. Strategic conceptual documents to support sports and active leisure time spending. 5. Recommendations for physical activity. 6. Monitoring of physical activity. 7. Recommendations for physical fitness. 8. Fitness testing. 9. Sports preferences and their differences in different target groups. 10. Sports and active lifestyle of children and youth. 11. Sports and active lifestyle of adults. 12. Sports and active lifestyle of seniors. 13. Intervention programs for different target groups. 14. Credit session. Seminars: 1. Scientific articles on sports and health. 2. Monitoring of physical activity (own research). 3. Evaluation of physical activity monitoring. 4. Testing of health-oriented fitness (own research). 5. Evaluation of health-oriented fitness testing. 6. Preparation of an intervention exercise program. 7. Application of the intervention program in practice.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Practicum
  • Class attendance - 42 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 55 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 50 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with sports and a generally active lifestyle in relation to human health, quality of life, school and work performance. Students will also learn detailed information on the recommendations and possibilities of subjective and objective diagnosis of the level of physical activity and physical fitness. Last but not least, they will learn the facts about sports and active leisure time for various target groups, for which they can prepare an intervention sports and exercise program due to their sporting preferences.

Prerequisites
The student has knowledge at the level of the subject Healthy Lifestyle.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Written assignment, Test

Course credit requirements: Participation at the seminars (80% attendance), assignments elaboration, written test. Examination requirements: Oral examination.
