Course content
Lectures: 1. Basic terminology, history and importance of nutrition for health and sports performance. 2. Macronutrients in nutrition (proteins, carbohydrates and lipids). 3. Micronutrients in nutrition (minerals and vitamins). 4. Nutritional recommendations, pathophysiology of nutrition (issues of malnutrition - undernutrition and overnutrition). 5. Alternative ways of eating (vegetarianism, veganism, vitarianism etc.). 6. Nutrition in sport and active lifestyle (including supplementation). 7. Nutritional strategies (in the prevention of overweight and obesity, for different sports etc.). Seminars: 1. Eating habits. 2. Myths in nutrition. 3. Antioxidants. 4. Nutritional pyramid. 5. Macrobiotic diet. 6. Nutrition in the training process. 7. Nutritional strategies in practice.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Practicum
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 30 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 40 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic components of healthy nutrition and rational eating, especially with regard to sports.
Students received special competences as per curriculum of accredited specialisation.

They are not required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Written assignment, Test

Course credit requirements: Participation at the seminars, submitting particular assignments, credit test. Examination requirements: written or oral examination.
