Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Ten-Gigabit Ethernet 6. IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) 7. Ethernet alternatives, virtual local networks 8. Internet Protocol 9. Routing algorithms, principles, RIP, OSPF 10. Transport layer - UDP, TCP 11. Domain Name System 12. Application protocols - E-mail, WWW 13. Application protocols - IP telephony and other applications 14. Internet Protocol version 6

Learning outcomes
|
The subject is focused on basic principles of the computer networks. Basic terminology of computer networks, topology, architecture. ISO OSI reference model. The common networking technologies - Ethenret and its variants, Token Ring, FDDI, ATM. Routing and routing protocols. Internet and function of its core protocols and services - IP, TCP, Domain name System, E-mail, WWW.
Students learn the principles of computer network operation and the most common networking technologies and applications.

Combined examination
Requirements for getting a credit are activity at the practicals /seminars and successful passing the tests. Examination is of the written and oral forms.
