Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation, briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Class attendance - 56 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The lectures introduce students into the fundamentals in design of the ventilation and the air conditioning sys-tems. It includes the definition of the parameters defining the buildings microclimate, the thermal properties of constructions, the calculation of the buildings heat load, fundamental calculations of the air conditioning air treatment, the design of the air distribution systems, filtration principles, components of the ventilation and the air conditioning systems, chillers and heat sources for the air conditioning, air conditioning systems and reheat systems. The lectures introduce students also into the fundamentals of the design and calculation of base types of heating systems and its components, including selected heating sources and into the design of the warn air heating.
In this course, students will receive a general overview of the field of heating, ventilation and air conditioning and learn the basics of design of such systems. This knowledge is useful for a wide range of technical professions related to the quality of indoor environment (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning) and energy savings in buildings (measurement and control, energy audit).
Prerequisites
Fundamentals of Thermodynamics, Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics.

Assessment methods and criteria
