Course content
1. Dynamic models of mechanical systems and machine structures. Solution of the vibration equation. One degree of freedom systems. 2. Free and forced vibration undamped and damped. 3. Force transmission. Rotating unbalance. Kinematic excitation - base motion. Measuring instruments. 4. Response to nonharmonic forces. Periodic forcing functions. Impulsive motion. Response to an arbitrary forcing function. 5. Vibration of linear systems with two degrees of freedom. Matrix equations. Natural frequencies and mode shapes. 6. Vibration absorber of the undamped system. Free and forced oscillations of translation, torsion and bending systems. 7. Vibration of multi degree of freedom systems. Natural frequencies and mode shapes, orthogonality of eigenfunctions. Forced vibration, method of modal analysis. 9. Fundamentals of oscillation of non-linear systems. Types of nonlinearities. 10. Self-excited Vibrations - auto-oscillation. 11. Continuous system. Free longitudinal and torsional oscillations of the shafts. 12. Finite element method for oscillation problems. 13. Eigenvalue and eigenvector problems. 14. Introduction to rotor dynamics. Circular oscillation. Influence of gyroscopic effects on natural frequency and stability of the rotor.

Subject deals with explanation of physical and mathematical principles of theory of vibration and their applications. The subject systematically presents approaches which are possible to apply easily to analysis of vibration of mechanical systems and structures.
