Course content
|
Lectures: 1.-3. Color in historical context from prehistory to present. 4. Color perception from the perspective of a textile designer. 5.-6. Color composition , color rhythm. 7. Color perception compared to using photography and video as a presentation tool. 8. Perception of shape and space, color perspective. 9. The effect of the structure and nature of the surface of the materials in the context of color as an aspect in product design. 10. Color interior design from the perspective of color psychology. 11. Application of colors in color design oft he proposed textile pattern, proposed textile and clothing. 12.-13. Magic and symbolism of colors. 14. Specifics oft he psychological effect of colors, application as a marketing design element. Exercises: 1. Swatch of preferred color tones. 2. Composition on seasons theme, contrast of cold and warm colors. 3. Still-life painting - real coloring. 4. Still-life painting - limited color scale. 5. Still-life painting - fantasy coloring (expression of individuality of the student). 6. A mask inspired by primitive art (colored relief, using unconventional materials). 7. Zodiac signs - color manual. 8. Underwater world - color collage. 9. Design of interior color solution on given topic. 10. Color rhythm - inspired by historical periods of your choice. 11. Art design of color pattern. 12. Shape and color solution of talisman (symbolism of colors). 13. Selecting the detail of the selected image for color analysis, followed by the creation of the sampler. 14. Monogram design, company logo in chosen color scheme. Collective presentation of semestral works.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide textile designers with basic knowlwdge of the art of colors, their natural relationships, psychological and aesthetic effect for design creativity of students.
Knowledge lectured subject. Within this subject student gains practical experience from his field of study.

|
Oral exam
Credit: active participation in seminars, presentation of semester assignments. Examination: oral exam.
