Course content
A: 1. Introduction. 2. Basics of sociological theories. 3. Basic paradigms of sociological theories. 4. Nature and culture. 5. Social order and individuality. 6. Needs, norms, values. 7. Conformity and social control, soc. institutions. 8. Soc. groups. 9. Soc. stratification and mobility. 10. Basic principles of soc. research. B: 1. Introduciton. 2. Basic paradigms of social theories. 3. Nature and science. 4. Social order and individuality - socialization, social interaction, role, family, gender. 5. Social institutions, organizations. 6. Social stratification and mobility. 7. Basics of sociological research.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming)
  • Class attendance - 56 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 30 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 40 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
1. Introduction - what is sociology, its origin, subject, function, structure and relationship to other sciences 2. An outline of the development of sociological theories - A. Comte, K. Marx, E. Durkheim, M. Weber 3. Basic paradigms of sociological theory, basic principles of sociological research) 4. Nature, culture and society 5. Socialization and everyday interaction 6. Social order, groups and organisations 7. Globalisation 7. Social stratification 8. Gender 9. Race and ethnicity 10. Sociology of work and economic life 11. Sociology of the family 12. Sociology of education
The students will acknowledge themselves with the informations acording to the goal and the matter of the course.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Regular attendance at seminars (allowed absences max. twice) and preparation of a seminar paper assigned by the teacher. Examination requirements: successful completion of the final test. Combined studies: Mastery of the material to be studied. Credit requirement: a seminar paper of 3 pages linking one of the selected topics with an example and reflection of your own. Examination requirement: successful completion of a final test.
