Learning outcomes
The course "Nano and micromaterials for drug delivery" focuses on the preparation of nano and micromaterials containing active substances. The stability, solubility and modifiability of polymer solutions and suspensions will be studied. Knowledge of pharmacokinetics and the preparation and evaluation of drug carrier materials will also be developed. The course focuses on the following topics: " Theoretical description, random walk, diffusion equation, mass transfer coefficient " Basic classification of drugs and their carriers, EU and FDA regulations, clinical and preclinical trials, polymers used in pharmaceuticals " Basic requirements for targeted drug delivery in terms of nano and micro materials " Methods of preparation of polymer solutions, characterization of solubility, interaction of polymers and solvents with drugs " Study and characterization of stability and dynamics of polymer solutions and suspensions (aggregation, sedimentation) " Study of drug release kinetics from planar, cylindrical and spherical structures (diffusion, mass transfer) " Analytical techniques used for release kinetics (chromatography, microscopy, etc.)
