Course content

1. Piezoelectric effect. Piezoelectric ceramics. Electromechanical properties of PZT ceramic. 2. Safety rules. Processing of experimental data. Origin 7.5. 3. Piezoelectric laboratory. Methods of measurements. 4. Measurement of frequency spectra of piezoelectric resonators. 5. The measurement of frequency dependence of permittivity of PZT samples. 6. The determination of electromechanical properties of PZT ceramics by resonance method. 7. Piezoelectric composites and their dielectric and piezoelectric properties. 8.-9. The preparation of piezoelectric composites 0-3 (PZT-polymer). 10. Polarization of samples. 11. The determination of piezoelectric coefficient d31 and hydrostatic coefficients dh, gh of PZT ceramics. The measurement by d33 meter. The measurement of piezoelectric coefficient d33 of PZT ceramics and piezoelectric composites. 12-13. Laboratory of laser interferometry. 14. Credit.

Learning outcomes
|
Fundamental methods of measurement in piezoelectricity. Preparation of experiment, derivation of results. The determination of electromechanical properties of ceramics and composites by the resonance method and by laser interferometry.
Basic knowledge of piezoelectric properties measurements.

Requirements for credit are activity on practising, derivation of the measurement results and submission of report.
