Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to the main aspects of comfort, definition of comfort, classification of clothing comfort, perception by human senses, comfort as a result of many factors, psychological comfort - its various aspects, effects of marketing on marketability 2) Sensory comfort - the non-physiology of comfort, the sensor of its perception in the human body. Moisture perception, Mechanical properties of fabrics and their influence on perception of mechanical comfort. 3) Basic terms associated with mechanical properties - strength and elasticity, Hook's law, tensile curve, fundamentals of fluid and gas mechanics 4) Thermophysiological comfort - definition, parameters associated with its evaluation, thermophysiological function of the human body, methods and instruments for determination of thermophysiological comfort parameters 5) Basics of heat transfer through clothes, heat transfer coefficient, influence of ventilation on thermal resistance of clothing, measurement of breathability. 6) Influence of moisture on feelings during wearing, indices characterizing the change in thermophysiological dry and wet comfort 7) Subjective evaluation of the hand of textiles - hand as a part of comfort, perception of hand, primary parts of hand, overall hand. Approaches to objective hand evaluation of fabric - KES, FAST, PhabrOmeter and other methods used for objective hand evaluation, selection of properties associated with fabric touch evaluation. Creating a prediction equation 8) Complex quality criterion - selection of determining utility properties, transformation, determination of significance coefficients - evaluation of questionnaires, use in evaluation of textiles. 9) Objective normalized measurement of properties affecting physiological comfort of clothing materials and textiles, Ret, Rct, thermal conductivity. 10) Garment comfort assessment in laboratory tests at a standardized load on the wearer to determine the quality and heat and moisture removal of the simulated load. Evaluation of physiological sitting comfort on car seats to determine transport properties of heat and water vapor, air. Exercises: Exercises will be conducted in accordance with the lecture material. They consist of two parts - practical measurements on devices connected with the evaluation of thermophysiological comfort and solving of practical examples from given data.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the issue of clothing comfort, especially in terms of thermo-physiological and sensory comfort, the possibility of measurement and evaluation according to expected use, these aspects significantly affect the utility value of products and their marketing success.
Students obtains knowledge about the classification of clothing comfort. They will learn the basics of heat transfer for needs of measuring and determination of thermophysiological comfort. They will also learn about the thermophysiological function of the human body and the general equation of heat balance. They will be acquainted with specific properties of various textile materials with regard to comfort. Student obtains experience with data treatment from different scales (nominal, ordinal, cardinal) and basic orientation in the area of evalution generally and toward to textile practise.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of fundamentals of data treatment

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined examination, Test

Credit: obtaining min. 50% points from two tests Exam: consists of two parts: - written - oral - student can passes oral part when he passed written part successfuliy
