Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction to the typology of woven fabrics and knitted fabrics; identification of weave on woven textile goods 2. Identification of pattern and visual finish on woven textile goods 3. Typology of cotton-type woven fabrics 4. Typology of linen-type woven fabrics 5. Typology of wool-type woven fabrics 6. Typology of silk-type woven fabrics 7. Identification of structure on weft knitted textile godds 8. Identification of structural pattern on weft knitted textile goods 9. Identification of color pattern on weft knitted textile goods 10. Typology of weft knitted textile goods 11. Typology of warp knitted textile goods 12. Functional and special fabrics - identification, basic properties, use 13. Learning outcomes
The course is designed with regard to the profile of graduates in the field of textile marketing. The student is able to identify and name the final textile product - goods. Can perform basic analysis of the final product (without the need for more demanding laboratory equipment, using only a microscope or a magnifying glass) and identify the characteristic elements that determine its properties and use. The student understands the basic relationships between the structural and useful properties od the fabric. Student will get practical experience in the field of touch and visual characteristics, which will enable him to react flexibly from the professional point of view in terms of business negotiations, through expert catalogues containing a wide range (several hundreds) of real textile samples. Emphasis is also placed on the correct labelling of textile products bearing information on both material composition and recommended maintenance method. Students are briefly acquainted with legislation related to consumer protection on the Czech market.
Students can identify and name the final textile product - the goods (woven fabrics, knitted fabrics). Can perform basic analysis of the final product and identify the characteristic elements that are decisive for its description, basic properties and applications. The student receives training through catalogs (covering a wide range of real samples of fabrics) in practical experience in hand and visual characteristics. Emphasis is also placed on the correct labeling of textile products - material composition, symbols maintenance. Students are also acquainted with the basic laws relating to consumer protection.
