Course content
- Basic types of fiber-forming polymers and requirements for their structure and properties with respect to forming ability. Characterization of polymeric chains. - Molecular and supramolecular structure of fibers, its evaluation and modification during the preparation and the use of fibers. - Models of fiber structure and methods of investigation of structural characteristics. - Geometric and surface properties of fibers, microfibers, surface treatment of fibers. - Sorption properties of fibers, swelling, and fiber super absorbents. - Thermal properties of fibers, special fibers with increased thermal resistance. - Mechanical properties of fibers, improved modulus fibers and high-strength fibers. - Fiber flammability and ways of flame retardancy. - Electrical properties of fibers, conductive fibers, conductive polymers. - Special high-functional fibers, antimicrobial fibers, multiple functional fibers. - Friction of fibers, lubrication. - Fiber fixation and stabilization. - Basic types of fibers, structure, properties and use.

Learning outcomes
Main aim is preparation of students for active application of fibrous materials based on the knowledge of fibers chemistry, physics, morphology and properties.
The student will acquire detailed knowledge of the subject in the area according to the approval of the Branch Board

Oral exam

oral examination before a committee appointed by the Dean. Written work in the recommended range of 20 pages.
