Course content |
Lectures : 1) Chemistry of inorganic matter used in the textile industry. Fundamental raw material of industrial inorganic chemistry. Production, characteristics and using of acids, alkalis, salts. Oxidizing and reducing substances in textile industry. Ecological and toxicologycal aspects of inorganic matter. 2) Chemistry and technology of water. Characteristics of water, water as a solvent. Water in the textile industry. Drinking and process water treatment. Textile wastewater treatment. 3) Chemistry of organic matter used in the textile industry Chemistry and technology of monomers. Production, characteristics and using of derivatives of ethylene, propylene and organic hydrocarbons. Ecological and toxicological aspects of organic matter. 4) Chemistry of dyes Theory of colour of matters. Classification of organic dyes according to chemical structure. Technological classes of dyes. Optical brightening substances. 5) Chemistry of surfactants and detergents. Characteristics of surfactants and detergents. Surfactants, their preparation and properties. 6) Classification of surfactants. Solubilization. Wetting ability. Detergent and emulsion ability of surfactants. Parameters of detergents for textile industry. 7) Natural polymers Polysaccharides (cellulose, starch). Chemical properties of cellulose and starch. 8) Chemistry of proteins. Structure and chemical properties of wool. 9) Synthetic polymers Polyester, polyamide, polyvinylalcohol, polyurethane, polypropylene, polyethylene, acrylates. 10) Polymeric mixtures. Copolymers. 11) Polymers in textile industry - filaments, binders, polymers in textile finishing. 12) Testing of polymers. 13) Basic textile chemical analyses. Identification of fibers. Evaluation of inorganic and organic matters in fibers. Evidence of fiber damage.. Learning outcomes |
The course provides general introduction to the textile chemistry. There is increasing emphasis on the chemistry of inorganic and organic compounds used in the textile industry, their production, properties and applications. The course give a theoretical approach to the application of dyestuffs, detergents, polymers and textile auxiliaries to fabrics.

Combined examination
The credit: Finishing on all laboratory exercises. Elaborate and defence laboratory records. Finishing on knowledge test over fix limit of point figure. The examination: be composed of written and vive part. |
