Course content
- Scope and development of chemical and thermal nonwoven technologies - Binders I. (Their properties influencing technology, structure and properties of fabrics) - Binders II. (Their properties influencing technology, structure and properties of fabrics) - Wet lay methods - Technology SPUN-BOND a MELT-BLOWN - Technology FLASH-SPUN, electrostatic spinning, solution spinning, flocking - Chemical bonding methods - Calender bonding, through-air bonding - Ultrasound and infrared bonding - Structure of bonded textiles, its forming and relation to fabric properties - Felting and fulling - Nonwoven finishing, laminating, coating, hotmelt - Specific fabrics, important properties and their control - Heating fibrous layers, theory and methods

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Independent creative and artistic activities
Learning outcomes
Range and state of art of nonwoven fabric production. Binders - theoretical aspects. Binders - properties. Bonding with dispersions, foams, pastes and solutions. Preparation of fibrous layers by wet methods, felting, spun-bond, melt-blown, electrets, electrostatic spinning, calendaring, hot air, ultrasonic and infrared heating, hot-melt adhesives. Theory of heating of fibre layers. Structure and properties of bound layers. Layering and coating.
The student will acquire detailed knowledge of the subject in the area according to the approval of the Branch Board

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

oral examination before a committee appointed by the Dean. Written work in the recommended range of 20 pages.
