Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction to tissue engineering 2. Requirements for biomaterials, sterilization 3. Natural materials used for tissue engineering scaffolds 4. Synthetic materials used for tissue engineering scaffolds 5. Scaffold fabrication technologies 6. Biomaterials characterization I 7. Biomaterials characterization II 8. Surface modification of scaffolds 9. Drug delivery systems 10. Composite materials in tissue engineering Practical courses: 1. Fabrication of nanofibrous scaffolds by electrospinning (planar materials) 2. Fabrication of nanofibrous scaffolds by electrospinning (tubular materials) 3. Fabrication of nanofibrous scaffolds by centrifugal spinning 4. Fabrication of polymeric foils by solvent casting + particle leaching 5. Drug delivery systems, measurement of amount of aktive substance 6. Assessment of biomaterials morphology 7. Assessment of surface properties of biomaterials 8. Measurement of biomaterials adhesion

Learning outcomes
Bachelor course "Fibrous materials for tissue engineering" is focused on multidisciplinary field of scaffolds used for regenerative medicine. Synthetic and natural materials, fabrication technologies and biomaterials charcterization will be introduced.
