Course content
1.Introduction into mechanical production technologies, terms; 2. Strengthening theory of fiber layer, bond point, forces; 3. Preparation of fibrous raw material for processing, fibrous materials, opening, blending, cleaning; 4. Principles of fibrous layer creation, carding, aerodynamic web formation, wet web formation, technological parameters; 5. Methods of web laying, control of fiber orientation, properties of laid layers, surface bonding; 6. Principle of stitching technology, stitching machine design, stitching needle, input parameters of fibers, fleece and stitching process; 7. Principle of Spunlace technology, construction of the device for hydrodynamic strengthening of web, production parameters 8. Principles of interlocking and tufting technologies, machine design, textile production, product properties and use; 9. Comparison of properties of products made by different mechanical technologies. Influence of technological parameters on product properties; 10. Relationship between theory and real mechanical properties of fiber structures.

Learning outcomes
Basic terms, characteristics, differences. Raw materials, web formation - trends. Principles of production of mechanically bonded nonwoven fabrics based on tangle fibre interbinding - felts, spunla-ced technique. Basic arrangement of the main functional parts of needle punching machine. Stitch bonding processes, product applications. Recommended test methods for NW fabrics.
