Course content
Lectures: 1. - 2. Special technologies of metal processing. 3. Surfaces and shape treatments of base metals, except for the jewelery approach, usable in the designer's workshop, taking into account interdisciplinary processing technologies. 4. - 5. Special technologies of plastics processing. 6. Surface and shape treatment of common plastic materials, taking into account the methods used in art practice. 7. Special wood processing technologies. 8. Surface and shape treatment of wood feasible in the designer's workshop, taking into account the unusual technological processing procedures. 9. Special glass technological procedures and modifications of glass surfaces. 10. Use of electrotechnological procedures in surface treatment of selected materials. 11. Digital craft - blending new technologies and traditional crafts. 12. Bio-solution - biotechnology, development and innovation inspired by natural principles. 13. Nanotechnological procedures taking into account the use of the formation of polymeric nanofibers for design. 14. Lecture of an expert from practice on a current topic. Exercises: The contents of the exercises correspond to the topics of the lectures and are designed as workshops in studios or specialized studios pilot plant. The intention is to use the design and research of the workplaces of the Technical University of Liberec for design, such as the production of distance knitwear, 3D printing, laser technology and more.

Learning outcomes
The course has the character of multidisciplinary teaching. It introduces artists with technologies usable for the development of forms design. It focuses on new technologies or innovation of traditional possibilities technology. The subject is materially focused for metal, plastic, wood, waste raw materials, biomaterials and more.

Exercises: individual art seminar work Credit: Awarded on the basis of evaluation of prepared seminar papers Conditions for successful completion of the course: obtaining credit and passing the oral exam.
